Evolutive and performative installation, graduation project, 2021.

For 12 days, my diploma was carried in an underground space at the École Duperré that I that I made my own by moving "my chamber" and the different bodies that compose it. The term "chamber" that I use here must be understood with a double connotation. For me, the space of the chamber is the bedroom in which I live, sleep, work, deploy a quantity of social and intimate experiences. At the same time, it is also a photographic chamber, That is a real exhibition space, where the image takes shape and acquires a materiality.

In the same way that one inaugurates a new home, I first organised a housewarming party to which were invited bodies that matter and that populate my nights. I set up a protocol with a photo studio in which each person was photographed before and after the party. The result is an edition of dyptic portraits documenting my subjects' experience of their own bodies when they are invited to meet and dance.

Overiew, before/after the housewarming. 18 June 2021.

After this first work, the device of shooting on a white background was kept and each new person entering and participating in the construction, organisation or evolution of my degree was photographed.

Exhibition view: all the people who participated in my degree between 18 and 30 June 2021 were presented on the wall behind my white background.

In fact, I really tried to see this place as a living one in which to welcome and invite the other to exchange and interact. For example, I have organised a sign workshop in preparation for Pride and two discussions. The first one was between non-binary/trans people to think about how to position themselves in front of the school institution and the second one was about the vast topic of the centre and the margins. For me, these were moments of listening and sharing that were extremely important and necessary to carry out a collective reflection.

Some signs made on 25 June 2021 on the day before the Paris Pride, then view of the exhibition in my diploma space.

Beyond these extremely rich collective exchanges, I was also able to work individually and intimately with my subjects. This is the case, for example, with Los Argeles, a project that was drawn on the surface of the skin and that gave shape to an edition where the body became a page that could be read and looked at. Cloé's body — at the origin of the project — is the cover of the edition. On its back, she presents the context: “𝙰𝚝 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝟸𝟶𝟷𝟿 𝚜𝚞𝚖𝚖𝚎𝚛, 𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚢𝚋𝚘𝚍𝚢 𝚠𝚊𝚜 𝚌𝚊𝚖𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚂𝚝-𝙰𝚗𝚍𝚛𝚎́ 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚖𝚢 𝚋𝚒𝚛𝚝𝚑𝚍𝚊𝚢. To this text are added two post-it notes which complete it and which were read by Cloé on my graduation day: "𝙸𝚝 𝚠𝚊𝚜 𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚕𝚊𝚜𝚝 𝚑𝚘𝚕𝚒𝚍𝚊𝚢𝚜 𝚋𝚎𝚏𝚘𝚛𝚎 𝚖𝚢 𝚐𝚒𝚛𝚕𝚏𝚛𝚒𝚎𝚗𝚍 𝚐𝚛𝚘𝚞𝚙 𝚒𝚜 𝚍𝚎𝚜𝚝𝚛𝚘𝚢𝚎𝚍. "Los Argeles", edition 12 pages, open format 90 x 60 cm, June 2021.
Project carried out with Jean-Baptiste Normand (calligraphy) and the participation of Alice, Félicie, Léonie, Lou and Cloé (subjects and supports).

After the various actions, events and research that I was able to develop within this space, the doors of my room opened. Bodies, textiles, books and objects came to life one last time in a performance presentation and then froze in the form of an installation that allowed me to present my approach and my productions to a wider public.

Below are some photos of the exhibition space on June 30th 2021 :
