Lisières (Edges)

Double-sided prints on various papers, deployable edition in different forms and quantities (consultation, performance or exhibition hanging). Approximately 300 double-sided pages in total, work in progress since 2019.
“Lisières” (translated as “Edges”) gathers a heterogeneous set of photographs from 2016 to 2023. Those — often stray images in my computer's folders — are printed on the papers that surround my workspaces, with a wide range of characteristics that can sometimes add up: matte, glossy, thin, thick, blank, annotated, colored, torn, painted papers, and so on.
The term "lisières" (edges) is used here to mark the places where specific contacts take shape between images and their supports. It is not used to express spaces of separation (in other words: borders), but rather to symbolize vague or shifting spaces of encounter between different environments. Edges are porous, open to otherness and dialogue. They present particular conditions and sometimes specific micro-habitats, favorable or on the contrary repressed to species from adjacent environments. So, just as in the natural environment, those are designed to live and evolve in a moving way in space and time. By taking them out of their box, we can experience their materiality and fragility by touching or feeling them. The photographs become sensitive zones that can either form an unbound edition (and thus be in constant transformation) or be extracted and exhibited to present a part of the microcosms that make them up.
